Pain in the Neck

I didn't intentionally set out to not blog at all for a week.  Really I didn't.  The middle of last week flew by in a mad rush of little boys, cleaning house, and cooking dinners and before I knew it, it was late Thursday night and I was getting ready to go to bed.  I said to myself, "Tomorrow I'll definitely blog.  I mean I haven't done it all week."  I even had what I thought was a pretty great idea about what to write.

But you know what they say about best laid plans.

Friday was the first time all Summer long that my boys slept in.  And by slept in, I mean stayed asleep past the 8am mark.  It was a morning to remember, and it would have been a feat to be celebrated thanks to the chipper mood I'm sure I would have had from having gained that extra hour of sleep.  There would have been stacks of yummy pancakes to be ate, maybe even with chocolate chips in them.  Unfortunately I was already awake and had been since around 6am.  I woke up with an incredibly horrific shooting, stabbing pain in the right side of my neck.  I couldn't move.  So I laid there and cried.  It took me two hours to be able to sit up and get out of bed.  Just as I was making my way into the living room, two sleepy eyed little boys were peeking out of their bedroom, ready to greet the day.

So I did what any rational person in my extremely painful state would do, I called my husband in tears and begged him to come home from work because I was so much pain I literally couldn't function.  He did, of course and my boys got to spend an impromtu day with their grandma, because aside from a date with the chiropractor I wasn't moving.  I couldn't turn my neck at all, and if I tried to look up or down it felt like someone inside of me was cutting into the muscles that support my head with a dull, rusty knife.

Since going and getting my poor neck cracked repeatedly (first time ever to a chiropractor, by the way.  It's a pretty scary experience.  Luckily my chiropractor was awesome and completely put me at ease) I've felt a little better.  And although I wanted to no nothing but spend the weekend curled up on my couch with a bottle of ibuprofen and an ice pack I had a long standing date with my boys for a day of back to school clothes shopping and Cici's pizza eatting, which was followed by an afternoon of working in the MOPS booth at a local community day festival.  I was in pain, but I smiled my way through it.

Needless to say, after all of that my ice pack and I are like this  (twists fingers to show you just how close we are).

I have another chiropractor appointment today, and am eagerly awaiting the relief that I know it's going to bring!

So yeah .... what did you do this weekend?
