A Toothy Grin

Gage isn't the easiest child to photograph. He's always on the go. So as a scrapbooking/blogging mama, sometimes I find myself getting frustrated with the lack of photos that I have of him where he is actually looking into the camera and (gasp!) smiling.

So when I do capture a special moment and he happens to turn his head just in time for me to catch his sweet grin, it makes my heart flutter.

This is one of my favorite pictures of little Gage. It's from over the summer when we spent a week on Assateague Island camping on the beach. After a morning of running through the surf with his brother and building sand castles, I was able to catch him in a brief moment of rest, lounging on the wet sand with his overgrown mohawk deflated and full of sand. The toothy grin that I happened to capture completely by luck sums up Gage's summer of 2010. And mine as well.

OK, right? My mother in law grumps at me for always sending her pictures with Amelia and none with Merrick, like I intentionally don't photograph him. If I could anything more than a blur of him running by or the back of his head, I would send her more!!! The ones we get when they actually sit still are priceless. This is a great one.
