Scientifically Speaking

It thrills me to no end just how smart my kids are.  They do things at such a young age today that I would never have dreamed of doing as a child.  Growing up, I never once participated in a Science fair.  I had no desire to, either.  Brayden, however, the smartie that he is, had complete other plans.

For two years in a row now, Brayden, has been accepted into a summer science camp that only the top kids in each class of different schools around the district get invited to.  He loves all things scientific and is extremely good at figuring out how things work.  When other kids his age are watching cartoons, he's holed up in his room watching Mythbusters or reading his Ripley's Believe it or Not books.  The way his little brain works is a pretty fascinating thing.

So when the Science Fair for school rolled around I had no doubt that he'd want to participate.  Brayden put together this wonderful project, tracking the effects different light sources have on plant germination.  He was very meticulous too, writing down his hypothesis before we began, watering his plants everyday, and tracking his results. 

The end result was nothing short of awesome.  (His school doesn't award prizes for the Science Fair, but this momma easily would have given him the blue ribbon)

In addition to his big experiment, he participated with his class experiment Turning Trash into Treasure and made a ring toss game out of old newspapers.

Even little Gage had a spot at the Science Fair.  His pre-k class did a lot of fun experiments, his favorite being making worms. 

Keep asking questions about the world around you, boys.  And keep thinking in ways that make things better rather than tear things down.  You kids amaze.  Every single day you amaze me.
