The Obligatory Easter Post

This Easter was an eventful one to say the least, with some good and some not so good.  But that's the nature of holidays with small children. There's an excitement in the air.  And there's multiple baskets of candy to create sugar highs which eventually lead to cranky lows.

The boys woke up yesterday morning to fake Easter baskets, because sometimes as a parent you have to have a laugh at your kids' expense.  Brayden woke up to a basket filled with Lysol, Fantastic, Air Freshener, and a brand new pack of sponges.  Gage woke up to a basket filled with canned peas and carrots, a potato, an orange, and a few bananas.  Needless to say they were not amused.  We hid their real baskets, which they did eventually find.

We spent the morning at church, because that's why we celebrate Easter after all.  Jesus died for us all.  He paid the ultimate price for our sins and on the Sunday after he died, Easter Sunday or Resurrection Sunday, he rose.  Yesterday we celebrated his love.

We had a giant dinner at my mother in law's house and then another at my parents house.  Both places the boys received another basket full of sweets.  The funny thing about all of that candy is that after the initial excitement over receiving it dies down, we don't really eat it.  Most of it gets given away or tossed after sitting around for a few weeks.

And of course we had an Easter egg hunt.  96 colorful eggs were strewn about the yard, decorating the green grass and the still barren trees.  It was sprinkling a bit, so we danced in the rain while we gathered up the brightly colored eggs.

Yes, all in all I would say that it was a pretty fantastic Easter, full of love, faith, and family.  And that's what life is really all about, isn't it?

I love the strategically placed eggs! We cut the kids a break and only hid the eggs and not the baskets. I think next year we'll hide both. I love the family picture. We don't have enough of those.

Amanda! Its been so long since I've been to your blog and seen pictures of your boys. They've gotten SO BIG. When did that happen??

Also, random, but your email sends me weird spam every couple of weeks. Maybe you knew that was happening, maybe you didn't?
