Glitz and Glamour

I come from one of those large boisterous families. Have you ever seen the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding? Think that only Italian. My family is loud, opinionated, original, and amazingly fun. My Nana though, she took the cake. She was feisty, beautiful, fiercely caring about her family, and just an all around amazing woman.

This picture is an incredibly old one of my Nana, who is looking every bit the glamorous movie star of the 1950's.

When I was a little girl I used to flip through her photos and imagine what life was like way back then. In my mind I had made up an alternate earth full of 7 days a week of extraordinarily fancy parties and long stunning ball gowns. And but of course I would dig through her armoire and find her more lovely outfits, touching each garment with the reverence of someone who had lived in the world I was created in my 7 year old mind rather than just imagined it.

Sometimes I still imagine what it would be like to live during the time that this picture was taken. I still imagine it simpler and much more glamorous, even though I know it probably was not either of those things. Pictures like this one allow me to hold on to a small part of my childhood and the dreams and imaginations that came along with it.

Plus my Nana looks HOT. It takes a pretty fierce woman to rock an animal print dress like that one!

Your Nana was HAWT! What a true graceful beauty she was. She could have been a model :) She's all I imagine a stylish woman in the 50's would look like. And you know what...I can totally see you in her lovely face!
