Horseshoe Curve

Both of my children have had a serious love for all things having to do with trains. While Brayden has sort of grown out of the "neat" side of them and has started to be fascinated by the mechanics of his beloved choo choos, Gage is still in the ultimate throws of his train obsession.

When Brayden was little, around the age that Gage is now, we took him to Horseshoe Curve, which is about an hour from where we live, to see the freight trains come rolling through.

Horseshoe Curve is a part of a local train track that when it was made was an engineering marvel with its tight 220 degree arc. There is a little observation area there and a small railroading museum. It's pretty much a train loving child's dream come true.

Thanks to the business of everyday life, we haven't been back since. But now with Gage's love for the rails rivaling that of his older brother, I'm sure we'll be returning soon.

Look how little he was :) He sure looks like he's digging the train. It's so funny, both Amelia and Merrick are fascinated with trains. I have NO idea why, but every time we cross a train track in the car, Merrick will yell "GO!". I have no idea what started it, but, there you go!

And here I thought this post was going to be about horseshoes, hee hee.

I'd love to take my kids to see a train. We pass one, every so often, when we're driving downtown. But I'd love to be able to actually taken them ON one.

Love the pictures :)

we have a train that passes thru town often because of a stupid ethanol plant nearby. every time my nephews are here and see it, they get so excited!
