Simplify

For the past week and a half I've have lots of time to relax, reflect, and enjoy life. And I'll tell you what, taking a giant step back and looking at yourself and your ideals from the outside in can be life altering! I've decided to switch things up a bit here in etsy-land. I love crafting, I really do. But honestly as of late I've become a bit obsessive over the whole buisness thing so I've decided to detach a bit, so to speak.

I'm *considering* meshing my 2 shops into one. I've toyed around with this idea before as a means to lighten my load so to speak - but now it seems so much more feasible and much more reasonable.

I love etsy and what I do so much, and its a HUGE part of my life and who I am - but so are so many other things and I feel like they are getting pushed to the back burner. There really should be more hours in the day! Anyways, you all will see a bit of a refreshing of my shop(s) coming up very soon. Sitting on that beach last week with the blue water and the white sand really made me stop and think and see the beauty in what is around me. I just need to simplify.

Are you planning on moving everything over to "This Old Hen House" or "Twist This"?

I read about people who have multiple shops, but I can't imagine keeping up with both. I think, even if your products are varied, one shop will be just fine :)

I can't decide which one to move everything to - lol. thats part of my problem I think!

You're so smart. We all need to pause and take stock from time to time. One of the wisest things anyone ever said to me (and I wish I could remember WHO said it) was, "Don't let the urgent drive out the important."

I've got that urgency thing going lately. It's about time for me to reorder my priorities, too. I just wish I could sit in that chair and look at that scene while I do it!

I keep thinking that I need some space, a break, to do some reflecting, too. Things get so busy, so quickly, and before you know it, life feels like a hamster wheel. Good for you in being able to re-organize and re-prioritize!

I'm sure you'll come with a solution that fits you. I can only imagine how hard it must be keeping up with two shops!

Aw, I like the names of both of your shops. I'd have a hard time choosing one over the other. But I hear ya! Right now I have one busy shop and one not so busy shop, and I'm exhausted!! Good luck with your simplifying!!

I'm excited to see what changes you will make. I'm sure they're all going to be for the better. :)

This evening I sat and watched a bumblebee flitting around from flower to flower on a huge flowering bush in our backyard. I could SO relate to that bee. Flitting here and there. You are right.....Simplify, slow down, be still. I like it.

I found you through flickr's Etsy.com Love group and I have to say I love your blog! It's so clean and crisp.

This post is timely too; I've been thinking of opening a second shop in order to commission my friend's lampwork - but I'm not sure about managing two shops when I feel like I don't have enough time to explore all the other things I want to do as it is. Best of luck, whichever you do!

p.s. - Nice Sublime title too! :)

I totally know what you mean and how you're feeling...My first and foremost job is being a mother and sometimes I think I lose site of things because of the business....

BTW...love the glue sticks and lipstick button...I might have to "borrow" that if it's okay...Where on earth did you find that.....
