Where You Belong

This picture was taken in March or April of 2006. Mike and I were able to escape for a few hours while the kids were at grandma's. It's a pretty rare occurrence now a days, that's probably why I remember the time line so well.

I don't really drink, hardly ever. I get stupid when I drink. But that night we went out with a few friends of ours for frozen margaritas. I had two. Mike, being the smart one, opted not to drink. Afterwards we all went bowling.

That night alone was certainly one of the most exiting nights that we had in a long time and I remember feeling so young, because just leaving the house without the kids in tow and being able to go where ever I wanted for a few hours was so liberating. I may have been home by 9 or so, but still, I was out and in the world as an adult and leaving my responsibilities behind for an evening.

The next morning I had a nasty headache and smelled like bowling shoes that were almost certainly worn by hundred of thousands of dirty, stinky feet. I haven't gone out like that again in the 4 years that have followed.

That night I thought that I was looking for something, a part of myself that I thought had gotten lost in my years as a wife and a mother. Turns out that was never me at all. I'd rather be home with my kids. But even still, the memories are sweet.

Although I do miss having alone time with my husband, I totally agree that I was made to be a mother and that is where I am happy.

Aw, seriously, you two are the cutest people in the world.

But ewwww, waking up and smelling like bowling shoes... I think GRODY is the only appropriate response to that.

How funny my Flashback is very similarly themed.

Aw, what a cute Mommy and Daddy date night pic :) I think we've probably had as many as you guys have! It's nice that you have a pic of it though. You guys are just too darned cute :)

Eeew, you smelt like bowling feet, haha.

Christopher and I haven't gone out without the babies in years either. Even when offered the chance, the thought of being away from my babies turns out to ruin any chance of a decent time that we may have had.
