Meet the newest member of our family - Vader the puppy (Yes, as in the one and only Darth Vader ... we're Star Wars people, couldn't ya tell?)
My moms friend found him after her next door neighbors moved away and abandoned their dog, leaving him tied to a tree. She tried to take him to a shelter, but the only no kill shelter in the area had a 8 month wait list on dogs to be dropped off since apparently buying the cute pure bread puppies are whats in vogue right now rather than rescuing a dog that needs a loving home.
We had been tossing the idea of getting a dog around for a couple of months now. Now that we've moved we have so much room for a dog to be able to run and explore and the boys are big enough now that they can share in the responsibility, like walking, feeding, and poop removal (because this mom deals with enough poop as it is!)
We had planned on waiting until the Spring to begin our dog search, when the weather was a little warmer but Vader the Black Labrador Retriver needed a good home and a lot of love. He's too skinny and needs affection, and it just so happens that I have two little kiddies who are move than willing to help him be happy and have a good life.
"A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water log stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if your rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?"

He is adorable! You did a good thing taking him in. We adopted one of our doggies from the Humane Society and it was the best thing we ever did. He'll be a great addition to your family :)
I am of the belief that people who abandon their pets (especially by tying them to a tree) should be shot. Seriously, that is WRONG.
Your wonderpup looks very sweet and I bet your boys are thrilled with the new addition to your household! PS, my brother wanted to name our bird Darth Vader when we were about 3 and 5 (me 3, him 5) My mom vetoed it and I got to name our bird Cupcake. :)
Oh yes...and I meant to say I love the name Vader. That is awesome :) My sister's friend has a pair of Golden labs named Luke and Leia.
I grew up with Labs.. and got my own when I moved out... Vader will make a great addition to the family!! So sad that he was left tied out to a tree! You guys are his Christmas Blessing!
